"ENYA?" WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
SUCH AN INTERESTING NAME!
As all you can guess, the question " What does Enya mean?" is probably the one I get asked the most, but believe me or not I've never gotten tired of answering it and explaining why I'm named Enya :)
Well, there is a singer who is called Enya. However, her actual name is "Eithne"(anglicised as Enya) and this means "little fire, kernel(seed)". It's an Irısh name. Actually it hasn't been long since I've discovered the original meaning of my name. I've spent years trying to get a little information about the meaning because whenever someone asked me what the meaning was I could only tell the story behind it and not the definition of it.
THE STORY BEHIND IT?
Yes, there is actually a lovely story behind my name. Although my mom really loved Enya's songs back when she was younger, I'm not actually named after the singer. The story goes back to my dad's high school years, but I definitely recommend listening to Enya. Her angelic voice and the meaningful lyrics are worth a try! Let me drop some recommendations for you!

Okay, enough with the singer now. Time to dive into the real story behind it!
So here is the thing, when my dad was in high school he read a poem named "Enya". Also, there was a lover the poet was talking to who was named Enya. It was also my father's first time hearing the name. He says he found it so interesting and beautiful that he decided to name his baby "Enya", whether it was a girl or a boy, and I was the lucky one :) My mother says that my father was literally in love with it, that back in the years almost all of his passwords used to be Enya. Also, it's not on purpose, but if you combine the first two initials of my father's and his best friend's (who unfortunately passed away in his 20s) names, it becomes Enya. The fact that it is so important for my father has always made me love my name even more. You might think that I get bored telling this story, but in fact, I get excited every time someone asks the meaning!
WHAT A COINCIDENCE! ☺️
Even though it is a rare name, I've actually met 2 other girls who were also named Enya. Both of them were younger than me. My father had to face some difficulties in the process of creating an identity card for me, because it was also the officer's first time hearing it, and it had to be proven that the name was appropriate. He says after they knew about it, they talked about it to some other people and there were lots of babies who were also named Enya.
I was introduced to the first girl by my friend, but meeting the second one was a total coincidence. On October 29, I was in the line with people from my school, waiting to perform, then I heard a voice calling for Enya. I was shocked because it wasn't me who they were talking to. I went near the girl and said "Hi, is your name Enya? 'Cause I'm also Enya!" and she said yes. Then she started to tell me why her name was Enya, and it was because there was a poem that her father loved and he decided to name her after it. At that moment I wasn't satisfied with the answer because I felt like the father even copied the story behind it, so I was frustrated. Don't wanna sound like a narcissist, but I truly believe I'm the original Enya in my hometown; therefore, I refused to believe that story :)
Jokes aside, ofc people can have the same story and name their baby Enya, it's such a normal thing. ( No I still don't believe it, sorry 🤗)
Now with this story, you know a little more about me!
